Support us How to Volunteer How to Volunteer Great volunteering opportunities! Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, increase your confidence, meet new people and have fun! Here at DASH we fundamentally rely upon the support of volunteers to deliver our services and achieve our goals. We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds and we would appreciate whatever time you can commit, whether that is a full day, a week or just a few hours per month. Our volunteers bring fresh perspectives and skills as well as the compassion and care we need to help make a lasting and meaningful difference to the lives of those we help. Our volunteers take part in a huge variety of exciting and engaging opportunities. We always look to recruit volunteers who share our vision and values. We seek volunteers who are good listeners, strong team workers and people who are adaptable, friendly and flexible in their approach. For most of our voluntary roles, we would expect a commitment of two to four hours per week. We sometimes ask volunteers to help us after office hours, between 5pm and 8pm as well as at weekends occasionally but this is completely optional. Any help we receive, for however long, is greatly appreciated. We have a variety of opportunities available to individuals wishing to volunteer: Helping our Support Workers to support our service users Administration and office support Mentoring service users Painting & decorating Sports coaching Job coaching Arts & Crafts Fundraising Gardening Cookery Who volunteers - case studies During my time volunteering at DASH I have had the opportunity to work within a knowledgeable and skilled team, being involved in offering support to people with a variety of individual needs. The experience has allowed me to develop personally and professionally, gaining confidence and competence. I have been involved in the referral and interview stage, offering support and helping residents to move on. I hope to continue gaining new skills and knowledge which will empower me in my future role as a Social Worker. Lauren Bradley For further information about volunteering with DASH call 0191 3845073.
